- For Bafla Baatis:
- 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 1/2 cup Semolina
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 2 tsp Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
- 4 tsp Oil/ghee
- To Taste Salt
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 5/6 glasses Water
- 1 bowl Melted Ghee For Dipping Batis and Serving
Steps to make to make Bafla
- For kneading dough
Take all the ingredients except melted ghee to a big bowl and knead the dough adding water slowly. Keep it aside for 5-7 minutes


- Now pinch the dough for one bafla(slightly bigger than the roti) and keep kneading till you get a smooth ball of dough. Can use ghee while kneading it in palms. Press gently in the middle and keep aside Similarly make all battis like this.



- For Making Bafla Batis:
Heat water in deep pan. Add turmeric powder and let it come to boil. Drop the rolled batis and let it boil for 5 minutes. Turn the heat to medium.


- Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes or til they float on the top.(Gently, keep stirring occasionally, to ensure that batis don’t stick to the bottom). Drain out with a slotted spoon to remove excess water. Let them get dry. They will be done when battis come up and float on the water.


- For Baking in Oven:
Preheat oven to 175°C Arrange baatis in a baking tray. Bake for 25-30 mins or until they top turn lightly golden in colour. Use a kitchen towel and press hot slightly with your palm.


- Don’t press it so hard, we just want to crack them slightly. Soak cracked in ghee for few seconds, and drain on an absorbent paper. Keep aside. Baatis are ready.
